Event details

Maverick fans and baseball fans alike…MARK YOUR CALENDARS…The Colorado Mesa baseball team is proud to announce Sergio Romo Weekend that will begin on Friday April 5 to open the series with CSU Pueblo. Romo will have his professional number, 54, retired on a Maverick jersey and will throw out the first pitch that evening.

The first 50 kids (12 and under) through the gate will receive a Sergio Romo Rookie Card and all patrons will receive a commemorative Sergio Romo Weekend program. Romo Shir-seys will be for sale along with Sergio Romo Trivia all night long.

Romo pitched for the Mavericks in 2005 where he went 14-1 with a 2.46 ERA with 129 strikeouts. Later that summer, he would be drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 28th round. With the Giants, he won three World Series Rings and recorded the final out in the 2012 World Series as he struck out Detroit Tiger Miguel Cabrera.

Sergio will throw the first pitch at Friday evening’s game where Athletics will retire his professional # on a Maverick jersey. The community is invited to attend where they’ll play Romo trivia and the first 50 kids will receive a Romo rookie card.

Sergio Romo weekend does not require registration, but you will need to purchase baseball tickets to the games.
